One day

Our feelings were suppressed,
Withheld by good intentions.
Need ran through us
Raw and fevered.
It boiled over,
And flooded our conversation without notice.
You spoke in a hush
A whisper of deep longing.
Words rushed into my ear.
Ones that made me breathless.
My fingers clung tightly.
Touches filled with heat roamed freely.
Beads of sweat sat on our skin.
The connection between us burned.
Fantasies were spun in the air.
Sounds came from your lips.
I begged to hear more.
Air caught in my throat.
My voice was ragged.
Vibrations ran through my body,
Chills spread across yours.
The room became unbearably hot.
Your intensity grew.
Mine rose to meet yours.
Our breaths were one.
You told me what I ached to hear,
What my body needed to know.
We screamed with desperate surrender.
My heart fluttered, my pulse drummed.
Our muscles were weak from the tension.
It hurt to release our clutched hands.
Time swept away quickly.
The clock was our enemy and we were its slave.
Goodbyes were painful yet filled with promises.
One day…one day soon.
I hung up the phone with hope in my heart.
