I love the smell of dust in the morning. I am listening to the crashing and banging of workmen installing our new air conditioner and furnace. I can't believe this part of our renovation process is almost complete. Something to check off the list! My poor puppy is upstairs in our bedroom howling like she's being tortured by psychotic monkeys. She ran out the front door when the guys first came in. I hadn't had a chance to grab her quick enough. Off she ran, down the street, around the greenbelt, back up the row of houses, etc. I tried squatting on the grass and calling her, whistling, offered her treats, used my no nonsense tone of voice, used my sing songy voice. I was getting nervous. Meanwhile the guys are waiting for me in order to carry on with the process. I directed them to the back door and went to look for my puppy again. Grrrr...what the hell? I came back in the house to find something else to tempt her with and the guys met me in the hallway. I signed the paper so they could get started and went back to hunting up something Gypsy might respond to. I turned around and one of the men brought her inside. Deep sigh of relief. Now she is locked in our bedroom, not out of punishment though that sounds like a good idea, but for her own safety.
Oh, how lovely, one of the guys is sweeping off my patio behind the old air conditioner. I wondered if I'd ever be able to clean that out. I would ask if he could stop and let me get the hose out to clean with soap and water, but that may put him behind schedule. Things in the house are starting to happen. Friday the handyman is going to bring me the estimates on the other work we want to have done. Then we get to pick and choose what we can afford to do.
I have huge dreams.
This has been a very overwhelming project. I have laughed, cried, been frustrated, suprised, happy, disappointed. Listen, more banging! Two men I do not know, making loud noises in my house, opening and closing doors, giving me odd looks every time they pass me sitting here at the dining room table, the dog barking and crying, the cats trying to trip the workmen. This does wonders for my PTSD. I should've taken a pill this morning.
Wow, the new airconditioner is big and new and clean! I love it! Now we have to put spikes up on the water drain so that the nasty dirty disgusting pigeons (sorry Mike Tyson) will stop perching there and shitting all over our patio and new airconditioning unit. I think that will be our plan for this weekend. I can clean out the area, put the spikes up and hope the pigeons die. I hate pigeons.
Hey, check it out, somewhere along the way our cat walked out onto the patio. Now she is begging to come back in. When the hell did that happen? I can't keep up with our zoo. At least she's enough of a scaredy cat (haha) to not run off.
Whoa, new guy just showed up. Who the hell is he? Where did he come from? They're multiplying on my patio!!!
Oh, mom just showed up with a huge black smudge on her forehead, I can't help but laugh.
